See & Do

CRYBABY, 3D5SPD, THE YUM YUM TREE -- The intense caffeine-rush of Crybaby anchors the second of five Wednesday residency shows tonight. Prog and proud of it, 3d5spd open with a heady set that's likely to feature material from its Radial Quartet album. Confectionary sweetheart Andy Gish and her defiantly hard-rocking pop band, The Yum Yum Tree -- one of Atlanta's best live acts this year -- should be the pure cane sugar in this strong black coffee evening. Touring theater
Eve Ensler's VAGINA MONOLOGUES has the potential to be nothing more than the misogynistic imaginings of a talking set of labia or, even worse, the rantings of a feminist lesbian cult. But in fact, it's neither. Ensler has crafted an inspiring, funny, heartrending collection of portraits of modern women talking about their bodies. Culled from interviews with hundreds of women, the piece is performed by a cast of three, who effectively channel the fears and passions of the real-life subjects. Jasmine Guy joins Geneva Carr and Lisa Tharps on stage during the last few days of the tour DEC. 12-15. $45-$50. Wed.-Thurs., 8 p.m.; Fri., 7 and 10 p.m.; Sat., 3 and 8 p.m. Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre, 3110 Roswell Road. 404-249-6400. -- JP

Remember those "Brady Bunch" episodes where the clan went to Hawaii, picked up that cursed idol, were menaced by tarantulas and nearly drowned? Hopefully Dad's Garage will have better luck in the 50th state with CHICK & BOOZY'S FUN-TIME HOLIDAY SPECIAL: LIVE FROM HAWAII. The playhouse resurrects its tribute to '70s variety specials DEC. 12-22, with washed-up action star Chick Starley (the alter ego of director Chris Blair) and his sidekick Boozy the Imp (Lucky Yates) hosting an evening of song, dance and sketch comedy. This year's roster reportedly includes Wayne Newton, Michael Flatley and Ricky Martin's pants, with the Hula Honeys replacing the Franzia Foxes as the evening's dancing girls. Bring a casserole Dec. 14 and get in free. $12-$15. Mon.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 5 p.m.; no show Dec. 18. 280 Elizabeth St. 404-523-3141. -- Curt Holman
