Like many artists, Tommy Taylor moved to NYC for work. But when the South Carolina native returned to his home state after eight years, he immediately felt more at ease in the South – so much so that he ended up making neighboring Atlanta home. The vibrant paintings in TANGENT at Whitespace Gallery, show how Taylor's move back to the South allowed him to be more contemplative, comfortable and spontaneous than when he was under the confines of commission work in New York. Quirky colors form abstract drips, splatters and organic shapes that reveal the artist's newfound energy and ability to freely use his intuition. Through Feb. 20. Free.
