Vince Gill

These Days

Even though Vince Gill's biggest days as a top-selling country superstar may be behind him, he has taken the change of the guard in stride, with grace and a bit of humor. Not only that, but before he rides off into the sunset, he delivers what may be the most important and impressive recordings of his illustrious career. These Days is a four-CD set of all-new material, a feat unheard of in Music City history. The fact that MCA Nashville allowed Gill to do this is indicative of their respect for his work, and he does not disappoint on any of the four discs.

Divided into four categories -- "Rockin'," "Country & Western," "Groovy" and "Acoustic," each disc features some top-notch duet guests. From the current hot country chick Gretchen Wilson and the best in bluegrass (the Del McCoury Band), to unique artists such as Diana Krall and Guy Clark, Gill has called in a lot of favors, all of which pay off in a big way.

Granted, it's not all perfect, but even Gill's weaker moments are better than some of the current popular artists' best moments. It's good stuff. 5 stars
