Georgia Renaissance Festival, Cabbagetown Dine-out and more

April 11 Friday

If you're in dire need of a rock 'n' roll fix, the Earl is the place to be. This quadruple band lineup features an explosion of timeless punk- and garage-rock chops. TIGER! TIGER! finds Subsonics drummer Buffi Aguero moving to the front of the stage for a round of dark, Motown-infused woman-scorned creepers. The Black and Whites peel out loud, fast, Ramones-style punk. Bobby & the Soft Spots (right) play slapdash garage pop. Organ/drum duo Double Dynamite opens. $8. 9:30 p.m. 488 Flat Shoals Road. 404-522-3950. (Chad Radford)

April 12 Saturday

Eat, drink and be merry at the GEORGIA RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL. An opening weekend fit for a king includes juggling acrobats, a sword swallower and plenty of turkey for the family. Check out a clashing duel by the Hanlon-Lee Jousting Knights or watch a majestic performance by the Royal Lipizzan Stallions. The interactive outdoor festival is packed with shopping, activities and performances taken straight out of the 16th century, with the exception of the newly featured item, fried Coca-Cola. Through June 1. Free-$19.95. Sat.-Sun., 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. 6905 Virlyn B. Smith Road. 770-964-8575. (Tiffany Roman)

April 14 Monday

Atlanta is still feeling the impact of the devastating tornado that blew through last month, but one of the neighborhoods hit hardest is about to feel some much needed love from a few of its local restaurants. Rich Chey, owner of Homegrown Restaurant Concepts as well as the recently opened Stella Neighborhood Trattoria in Grant Park, has organized the CABBAGETOWN DINE-OUT to benefit those affected by the tornado. Twelve participating restaurants will donate 15 percent of their proceeds earned from 5 p.m. until close to Cabbagetown Initiative's disaster relief fund. Feelin' hungry? Find a list of participating locations at Various locations. (Alicia Wages)
