ATLANTA BALLET'S INDIGO GIRLS PROJECT -- Atlanta Ballet Artistic Director John McFall hired Margo Sappington to collaborate with local legends the Indigo Girls on "Shed Your Skin," an unusual marriage of folk-rock and dance. Mixing pop music and artist movement isn't such a foreign concept to Sappington, who adapted the music of Prince for the Joffrey Ballet. Fox Theatre (Smith)

DAMIAN MARLEY FEATURING GHETTO YOUTH CREW -- Get three Marley kids for the price of one as Damian "Jr. Gong" -- Bob's youngest child and the only one with a recent album -- joins brothers Julian and Stephen to ply a predominantly hardcore dancehall/hip-hop/R&B approach. Alas, the soulful Marley mystique is largely MIA. Ziggy, call home. Roxy (Horowitz)

INSANE CLOWN POSSE, TWIZTID -- The world's angriest clowns return to Atlanta to again answer that age-old question, "What would happen if Gene Simmons and Bozo had their genes spliced together?" ICP proteges Twizted are both more and less than their mentors. Together, the two bands go a long way toward making GWAR seem downright visionary. Scary. Masquerade (Robertson)

HOUSEROCKER JOHNSON -- Luther Johnson, aka Houserocker, has logged somewhere around 2,000 nights on this same bandstand over the past 15 years. But he still keeps 'em comin' with an engaging show that combines blues (B.B. King, Charles Brown, Guitar Slim), rock 'n' roll (Chuck Berry) and R&B (Wilson Pickett, Ray Charles). His penchant for crowd-pleasing makes his stage moniker a well-deserved one. Blind Willie's (Powell)

LUSH LIFE THURSDAY -- Jazz guitarist Lesure assembled this baby in an effort to create a new upscale setting in Atlanta for 1950s/'60s hard-bop and post-bop jazz, and to foster a music business model in which the musician also promotes and finances his own bookings. Lesure promises the occasional national guest artist for this weekly Thursday night gig. Riviera (Powell)

MY HOTEL YEAR -- Fist-pumping rock with a saccharine emotional engagement, former Atlantans My Hotel Year recall the ultra-earnest indie rock of early-'90s acts like Superchunk and Fugazi. Echo Lounge (Hutchinson)

OKOLONA -- East Atlanta honky-tonkers Okolona have been together since 1969. While they haven't been extremely active in recent decades, a new CD and scattered live gigs have the boys rolling again. While Made From Scratch, Okolona's 30-years-in-the-making debut, is rough around the edges, this diehard band of Merle Haggard devotees hopes it will fill a void among local, original classic-country offerings. Star Bar (Sarig)

SNIT'S DOG & PONY SHOW -- After 18 years spent busting it out in Atlanta, Kevin "Snit" Fitzpatrick packed up and moved Texas in the mid-'90s. After a stint with the Hollisters, he formed his Dog & Pony Show, a blues/rock 'n' roll outfit that has become a Houston favorite despite its rather conventional sound. Snit returns to Atlanta, show in tow, for a three-night stint. 9 Lives Saloon (Sarig)

SPIDER VIRUS, HEX ERROR -- Headlining this bill of dysfunctional hard rock, Nashville's Spider Virus shared a split single with Atlanta's defunct Tweezer back in '95. After a spin with Steve Albini and a battle with a major label, they landed with Chicago's Offtime Records for their most recent release, the poppy, occasionally eccentric Radio Invaders. Relatively new Atlanta band Hex Error, whose full-on guitar assault is single-mindedly intense and occasionally jagged in a post-punk fashion, also play. Look for their debut CD in November. Athens' Sci-Fu opens. The Earl (Sarig)
