“The Music, Movement and Migration Series" with artist/scholar artist/scholar dj lynnée denise explores the interdependent role that music, visual art, and literature play in the social mobility of Black people, from the perspective of Black women cultural producers. This interactive lecture and performance series utilizes sound equipment and computer technology to investigate audio/visual illustrations of Black expressive culture. The series is held in conjunction with the exhibition "Posing Beauty in African American Culture" which delves into how present-day understanding about Black beauty has been informed by the works of artists and photographers from the 1890s to present.
