The Men, Liverhearts, Vincas, Wymyns Prysyn, Widowspeak

When: Tue., July 3, 9 p.m. 2012

Since 2008, Brooklyn foursome the Men has teased out a gritty hybrid of proto-punk skuzz and post-punk melodies, all while steering clear of garage rock's naïve strut. The group’s latest, Open Your Heart (Sacred Bones), surprisingly shows off an even more well-rounded musical palette by blending country and Krautrock accent into its fuzzed-out excursions, while giving nods to such specific influences as Dinosaur Jr.'s self-titled album, Big Star's Radio City, and Spaceman 3's Sound of Confusion.
