Bhagavan Das, Beehive Co-op's Skip the Mall social and more



BHAGAVAN DAS (pictured), formerly Mike Riggs of Southern California, traded American suburbia for spiritual enlightenment long ago. A published author and prolific musician, Bhagavan Das is a master Kirtan artist (ecstatic yoga chanting) and world-music innovator. He infuses sacred Indian chanting with rock 'n' roll and worked with the Beastie Boys' Mike D on his most recent album, Now. Behind the glare and daze of Christmas shopping, a colony of busy workers is creating handcrafted art for Beehive Co-op's SKIP THE MALL holiday social. Local and regional designers such as Bloomin Lumen, Sarara Brazil, Blood and Just Add Honey sell funky lighting fixtures, organic jewelry, colorful clothing and natural teas. Wearing a red ribbon is only the beginning of recognizing World AIDS Day. Spruill Gallery presents THE LOST BOXES: MOURNING THE LOSS, a new installation by Terry S. Hardy.
