See & Do

Music: Mark Knopfler

Tues., July 29

On MARK KNOPFLER'S 2007 CD, Kill to Get Crimson – his fifth solo album since disbanding Dire Straits in 1995 – the fluid finger-style guitarist with the mellow baritone continues his passion for old-fashioned storytelling. At the end of the day, Knopfler's a folkie of the highest British Isles rank, a busker with a flair for shanties, ballads and love stories. Everything's all echoed-out and twangy on his wistful "We Can Get Wild," which feels as if it's sung by a hopefully rebellious teen-rocker wannabe. The man who was ranked No. 27 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time hasn't lost his soothing charm, either, as he'll undoubtedly prove during his Atlanta stop Tues., JULY 29. $41.50-$81.50. 8 p.m. Chastain Park Amphitheater, 4469 Stella Drive. 404-233-2227.
