Scott A. Stewart, the director of wind studies at Emory University, conducts the ATLANTA YOUTH WIND SYMPHONY for the Nathan and Laurie Slaff Family Concert. The wind ensemble will play six pieces, ranging in time from Howard Hanson's 1954 "Chorale and Alleluia" to Michael Colgrass' 2006 "Bali," which was inspired by the composer's two summers on the Indonesian island. About 80 high school student percussionists and wind instrumentalists from 60 area high schools comprise the AYWS. Free. 8 p.m. Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts. 1700 N. Decatur Road. 404-727-5050. www.arts.emory.edu.
