The sheer quantity of primarily instrumental music this Scottish quintet has released since the late ’90s makes most collectors’ head spin. But the band’s spacey, often introspective approach is a perfect match for movie/TV soundtracks, countless remixes, and collaborations with the twisted likes of Roky Erickson, among others. The group’s vibe morphs between visceral and ambient, often sharing both styles in a cinematic audio explosion that has garnered an international cult following. Electronic opener Majeure doesn’t do anything Tangerine Dream didn’t do 40 years ago, but it does it awfully well.
