Mary Jane is a heart breaker

There's a slew of bad news for pot smokers in the American Heart Association's latest journal, Circulation.

Marijuana smokers are 4.8 times more likely to have a heart attack in the first hour after lighting up than people who just say no, according to a study released June 12.

Besides getting people stoned, pot increases heart rate and provokes chest pain, the study says.

Not to make readers paranoid or anything, but the study also says weed may trigger heart attacks by causing plaque that has built up inside blood vessels to form a clot and block the flow of blood to the heart muscle.

But if you have to pick a poison, weed is better than coke. Cocaine snorters are 25 times more likely to have a heart attack in the first hour after use than people who don't do coke.
