Malcolm X Festival

When: Sat., May 17, 12-8 p.m. and Sun., May 18, 12-8 p.m. 2014

Nearly 50 years after Malcolm X’s murder, his “by any means necessary” struggle for human rights still resonates. And the musical lineup for the 25th annual Malcolm X Festival — which takes place Sat.-Sun., May 17-18, from noon-8 p.m. in West End Park — is filled with acts that reflect his cultural impact. Rap duo Dead Prez headlines, alongside Afrobeat band Mausiki Scales and Common Ground Collective, god hop MC Sa-Roc and Sol Messiah, singer/songwriter Marian Mereba, spoken word poet Georgia Me, and many more.
