Kris Kristofferson: Feeling Mortal

Getting old ain't for sissies. Master songwriter Kris Kristofferson's work has been recorded by hundreds of artists for more than 40 years, and he has been spending his golden years doing what he does best: writing about what matters to him. Having seen many contemporaries pass on, including his dear friend and mentor Johnny Cash, on Feeling Mortal he explores the process of aging with deep insight, understanding, and acceptance. Produced by Don Was, Feeling Mortal is an easygoing acoustic journey - deceptive in its musical simplicity, but profound once the lyrics are heard. As poignant as the words is Kristofferson's delivery, with a voice that was never great, but now sounds as aged as the characters in his songs. The truth can be so beautiful, yet so brutal. (4 out of 5 stars)
