Forced to leave the destitution of their rural Sichuan home to find work in faraway manufacturing plants, Zhang and Chen drop the kids off at grandma's for a woefully extended stay in Lixin Fan's Last Train Home April 2, only able to reunite with their family for Chinese New Year in the High Museum of Art's INDEPENDENT CHINESE CINEMA series. Zhou Hao's Senior Year takes a long, hard look at China's education system April 9, while Lou Ye's Suzhou River closes the series April 16, borrowing from Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo to create a modern noir film.
