Iceage, Merchandise, the Ultras S/C, Knaves Grave

When: Fri., July 27, 9 p.m. 2012

Ever since New Brigade, the debut LP by Copenhagen’s baby-faced post-hardcore lads Iceage, crept across the Atlantic, the group has been hailed for revitalizing punk; which is a gross exaggeration (although the record is fantastic). Vocalist Elias Bender Rønnenfelt’s pithy demeanor precedes him, but actions speak louder than words: The haunting and distressed vocal and guitar melodies of such songs as “White Rune,” “Broken Bone,” and “You’re Blessed,” coupled with a Pagan/militaristic aesthetic create the mystique of a band that’s seasoned beyond its years (they’re all 19-20), which is probably because some of these guys have been playing together since they were 12 years old. Expect a 20-miunute show that’s a whole lot louder and faster than anything on the album. Merchandise, the Ultras S/C, and Atlanta's own Knaves Grave open the show.

Price: $10-$12
