A chill runs through the music of Hundred Waters, Gainesville, Fla.’s premiere jazz- and folk-influenced electronic rock band. Keening vocals, courtesy of Nicole Miglis, create arcs of melody that develop icicles as they move through their sonorous contours. Every song on the group’s latest, The Moon Rang Like a Bell, on the Skrillex-owned label OWSLA, features some manner of digital wintriness. But within the contemporary trappings of their synthesizers and samplers, Hundred Waters channel a deeper, timeless Anglo folk tradition, albeit updated for 2014.
