Gold Dust

When: Wednesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Continues through Sept. 29 2012

Photographer Lauren Silberman makes her Atlanta debut with Gold Dust at Whitespec at Whitespace Gallery. Her new series was shot in New Orleans and uses vegetation paired with local youth as a metaphor for the regrowth of the city and its people. The exhibition also features two of her past projects, Afterparty and The Black Label Bike Club. In Afterparty, Silberman looks at the moods and characters left behind in the midst of destroyed spaces after a wild party; trash and ominously large speakers offer a hint at the life the party once held. Her Bike Club series investigates the raw, rugged living spaces of a bicycle gang in Brooklyn. An opening reception will take place Fri., Aug. 24, at 7 p.m.
