Although many small theater companies have attractive and informative websites, two groups are pushing their online presence to the next level: ticket sales. Theatre Gael and Dad's Garage Theatre have partnered with AtlantaTheatres.com to offer reservations and secure ticket purchasing online. After selecting a show, patrons can either pay for tickets online with a credit card or reserve tickets to be picked up at the box office.

Originally launched by Andrew McKaskill, AtlantaTheatres.com is now managed by Atlanta-based Ovation Software. Hans Meyer, a software development consultant with Ovation and also a working director and actor in the local theater community, says the company hopes Dad's Garage and Theatre Gael are just the first of many theaters to sign up for online purchasing. While several local theater sites feature online reservations, secure ticket sales are reserved mostly for bigger groups like the Alliance.

In addition to purchasing, AtlantaTheatres.com provides a fairly comprehensive rundown of what's playing in town, including links to official theater sites.
