Dems want to add eight House seats

The state House redistricting subcommittee passed a map Monday that would give Democrats a big boost with 113 districts. There are 105 Democrats, 74 Republicans and one Independent serving in the House now.

The map also puts 36 lawmakers in multimember districts, where two to four House seats are located within one large district.

The House Legislative and Congres-sional Reapportionment committee was expected to pass the map on Tuesday and the full House could pass the map as early as this Wednesday.

And here's a shocker: Republican House members hate the map and say it's as twisted and full of gerrymandered districts as the one that passed in the Senate last week.
