Chamber Cartel presents a unique opportunity to hear For Philip Guston, written by Morton Feldman in 1984 as a memorial to his close friend, an American abstract impressionist painter. Described by Andrew Clements as a “unique, fragile musical space” and by Caleb Herron as a series of “aural brushtrokes” For Philip Guston is performed over a time span of about four hours, a time during which even the smallest change in sound assumes enormous significance. This extraordinary musical journey, for flutes, tuned percussion, piano, and celeste, is performed by Nicole Chamberlain (flute), Jeff Manchur (piano), and Caleb Herron (percussion).
