Best Use of Atlanta as a Film Location

Atlanta's increased popularity as a movie locale is a good news/bad news situation. It's a boon for the metro area to be on the map for Hollywood shoots, but it's hard to stay excited when the productions in question include the Southern cliches on parade in Sweet Home Alabama or the comedic crimes against humanity in Dumb & Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. One local film production we can be proud of is the sleeper hit DRUMLINE, an uplifting, toe-tapping tale of battling marching bands filmed and set at such African-American colleges as Morris Brown. Setting a familiar formula to a fresh beat, Drumline gave Atlanta exactly the kind of showcase it deserves.
