Best Unsung and Departing Director

David H. Bell

Amid the adulation for the Alliance Theatre's outgoing artistic director Kenny Leon, the departure of associate artistic director David H. Bell has gone nearly unnoticed. Bell joined the Alliance staff with the 1993-1994 season and directed some of the theater's most transcendent plays of the past decade, particularly the musicals The Boys from Syracuse and Hot Mikado. He's also done significant work for other Atlanta playhouses, like The Harvey Milk Show for Actor's Express and The Blood Knot for Theatrical Outfit. One hopes he'll still contribute to Atlanta theater in his current role as a freelance director.
