Tapas are everywhere now but the best in town emerged this summer when NOCHE
converted its menu of Southwestern cuisine to small plates of authentic Spanish and Mexican dishes. The crowd is hellaciously loud in this small restaurant that does a heavy bar business, but it's all perfect for a cuisine traditionally served in crowded Spanish cafe bars. Two don't-miss dishes are the white anchovies and onion salad on toast and the sauteed spinach with dried cranberries and pine nuts. Ditto for the spare ribs. Portions are more generous than usual and nothing costs over $5.
