He has yet to attain Liberace’s jewels or Little Richard’s legacy, but it may only be a matter of time before RAHBI takes his place among such flamboyant showmen. On stage, the petite powerhouse drips with sweat, androgyny and attitude. He backs every bit of it up with vocals and acrobatics that would make Prince do a double take and say, “Oh no he di-in’t!” At the third installation of his Strange Fruit showcase in July, Rahbi premiered his latest original song, “Rip Girl” a suggestive little ditty that highlights his affinity for synthed-out ’80s beats and sassy songwriting. His upcoming Strange Fruit Live DVD, scheduled for a holiday release, should make for a great stocking stuffer (hint, hint). Shut up! www.myspace.com/rahbi.
