Curator Stuart Horodners 11th-hour tour de force MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS
at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center reminded us of the old haberdashers saying: Its not what you wear, its how you wear it. Replacing a show canceled at the last minute, Horodner scoured local private art collections for all things extraordinary, disturbing and worthy of a double-take. The search produced classics such as Salvador Dalí drawings as well as contemporary work by artists with an international reputation such as Radcliffe Bailey and Erwin Wurm. Breathtaking in its scope, the real magic happened when the works were combined in the space with a precise and knowing eye. Mergers & Acquisitions
was a high-water mark in the institutions programming that told a story of art in the local ecology far larger than the sum of its parts. 535 Means St. 404-688-1970. www.thecontemporary.org.
