When it comes to zoo babies, how could you single out just one of the adorable mammalian wonders who've sprung forth into the world at Zoo Atlanta over the past 12 months? It all started with Po, the baby panda who was born late last year looking like so much chewed-up bubble gum. As winter turned to spring — and Po grew into the hairy, black-and-white cookie we know and love — the furry friends kept on coming, among them a tiny, tired-eyed western lowland gorilla and a pair of Sumatran tiger cubs. The most recent addition is a 6-foot-tall she-giraffe with enough loose skin on her neck and knobby knees to make a second set of neck and knees. Honorable mention goes to Rembulan Wajah — Remy, for short — the Sumatran orangutan that came to Atlanta from Fort Worth, Texas' zoo in April after her mother fell ill. Seriously, there must be something in the water at Zoo Atlanta — something wonderful. 800 Cherokee Ave. 404-624-9453. zooatlanta.org.
