When it comes to the most diverse and least pretentious place to party, EAST ATLANTA VILLAGE reigns supreme. For starters, the Village is now home to the city’s only lesbian bar, Decatur ex-pat My Sister’s Room and it’s on the same block as famed gay bar/karaoke den Mary’s. There’s a fair dose of glitz at the Eastside Lounge and an equal amount of grit across the street at the Earl, where some of the best local and national indie acts have graced the stage. Newcomers the Glenwood, Midway Pub and Graveyard Tavern have helped round out the mix of watering holes and, in the case of the Glenwood, standout grub. The only thing that could further improve East Atlanta would be the resurrection of the nearly 100-year-old majestic and crumbling Madison Theater.
