Judi Chicago

Staff Pick

Freaky white funk, thrift-store dada and vintage house beats are the calling card of JUDI CHICAGO. Sure, the dynamic duo of Travis Thatcher and Ben Coleman may dress like extras from The Karate Kid, or perform in short shorts, sweat bands and Magnum P.I. shades while singing about getting naked to “watch ‘Cops.’” But it’s all part of a day in the life of two pop-culture junkies who love to make fun of their guilty pleasures. The sweat-soaked elation they exude on stage is sincere, and both members thrive on showing off their absurd sense of humor while kicking up old-school rave culture and punk flippancy in a clunky and futuristic spec-tacle.
