Atlanta Film Festival

Staff Pick

The 30 year-old ATLANTA FILM FESTIVAL has caught some criticism and suffered some turnover in recent years. But it remains the city’s pre-eminent film event for the quantity, diversity and grassroots energy of its selections. Sample this year’s festival offerings and you can find such pleasures as the Cynthia McKinney documentary American Blackout, the Latino coming-of-age feature Quinceañera, the fun, out-of-nowhere rockumentary Rural Rock and Roll and many others. Nevertheless, the Atlanta Film Festival should keep an eye on its rearview mirror: The Out on Film and Pan African Film Festivals are coming up fast.
