Best Bloody Ballet

comment
Rage has never been one of ballet's more credible emotions. Anger, yes, even self-righteous fury. But precise kicks and tight spins don't lend themselves readily to bestial abandon. All the more impressive, then, that the ATLANTA BALLET's Hamlet released such savage violence from the dancing Dane. The impact was heightened by the foil of Philip Glass' minimalist music and the spare abstractions created for the corps by choreographer Stephen Mills. Through this grid of cerebral studies, Hamlet slashed a bloody wound.
