Best Architecture Activists

In a field popularly defined by its Gehry-style superstars and high-profile projects, THE MAD HOUSERS, a group of Atlanta-based nonprofit guerrilla builders to the homeless, create architecture that fulfills the most basic human need: shelter. The volunteer organization builds and supplies free of charge low-cost, weather-tight wooden huts, which are placed squatter-style in urban spaces where the homeless are known to make camp. Some tenants have been known to live in Mad Houser huts for many years.
