Every year, Horizon Theatre revives its production of David Sedaris’ Christmastime classic Santaland Diaries. The celebrated essayist recalls his time as a down-and-out, unemployed writer who takes a job as an elf at Macy’s to pay the bills. The result is a hilariously sharp take on a season typically treated with sentimental, materialistic gloss. Leave the kids at home and take a break from the holiday schlock with this one.
